Despite missing several key players through injury and travel, BXVI (pronounced “Bee 16”) indoor soccer team scraped through some difficult times to take a comfortable 3-0 victory over Bee Dee Pees in the Lords Mixed futsal competition.
Going into the half time break only a goal up, BXVI fought off a fiery attempt at a comeback with Mike Haydon pulling off a couple of great saves. One blistering shot was saved, only for the ball to take a mind of its own and slowly trickle to the goal line. Throwing his whole 6ft 5 frame at the ball, Mike got a hand to it to keep a clean sheet.
A perfect corner by Dave Haydon for BXVI left Tim Haydon unmarked, one meter from the attacking goal with the simplest of touches to score the second goal. A colossal blunder by the Bee Dee Pees’ goalkeeper gave Dave Haydon (who read the play brilliantly and was in the perfect place at the perfect time) a simple tap in with 10 seconds remaining on the clock.
